Dream beats fantasy

Monday was a long and hard evening and night for our darling little Elliot. He had his 3 month vaccination at noon which went OK; he didnt cry when the needles penetrated his skin, but when they started pushing the medication out into his thighs. Yes, plural - one shot in each thigh. Knowing me I had to step outside for this event so Daniel comforted him. Everything seemed fine afterwards, he was abit taken so he mostly slept, but then later in the evening he had several breathing apnés (worse than any we've seen so far). He got his oxygen back to help him feel better, but Dan and I couldn't sleep that night. Apparently some children respond to these vaccinations like this, but I hadn't pictured it this bad so I was shocked. Our strong and brave baby boy!

Learned earlier this week that we'll be going home on Friday July 6 - been here since May 5. Even though giving premature birth in week 27 (three months early) is a long, bumpy and sometimes incredibly scary process, we feel that we've been extremely lucky and priviliged;
1. We got to meet Elliot way sooner than we had thought
2. We get five months together as a family before Dan has to go back to work
3. We got to meet all these wondeful people here at the hospital, people that have taken very well care of both Elliot and us, that has made our stay here bearable and even enjoyable - we've made some really good friends here

Thank you so much, we wouldn't have made it without you

So, in order to get ready for going home (tomorrowTOMORROW!), we've spent time at home to tidy and clean the apartment - we'd probably not have the energy (or interest) to do that in a while once we've moved back home with Elliot ;-) Everything's shiny now though so you can all relax! I can't wait till we take those first steps into the apartment WITH Elliot, I've been picturing it for so long now the dream almost has turned into a fantasy, but it really is true! Should be interesting to see how Morris and Diesel responds to Elliot, I've missed them so much!

I got to ride on Dans motorcycle yesterday which was awesome fun! I have to admit I was a little scared to begin with though, but it was mixed with excitement haha! Adrenaline Rush Ltd ;-)

Time to go back to sleep now, Elliot has been fed and I'm really tired. Being tired has turned into a constant mode here for the Freij family, but I hear that's how it's supposed to be ;-)

Lots of love
Lina ♥
