Last day coming up

Today is the day before the last day of this year. It's been a long and short year, days going terribly slow and being as heavy to bear as Kilimanjaro, and days being filled with something resembling happiness. Dad has been gone for the most part of these 365 days, and I've missed him every day and not really seen any fun in anything but mostly been "going along". At the same time I've had Daniel in my life, the best husband, friend, funny person (Farbror Freij!) and the love of my life! And I have mum, my brother, Daniels family, my friends, relatives and two BEAUTIFUL siberian cats - life can be good too! I do have my hopes high for next year, we've all been through MAJOR events this year and could really use some relaxed happiness, don't you agree?

This evening was spent in the company of good friends. We asked them over for dinner and served them grilled pork fillets with potato gratin with a green sallad on the side (with avocado, feta cheese, tomatoes and cucumber in it) and - this is the best part - CORN! I LOVE corn! I could eat just the meat with the green sallad and corn, which actually is exactly what I did ;-) Yummy! After having stuffed our faces with this delicious dinner we sat down in the sofa to see Awake, a supernatural crime thriller starring Jessica Alba. We all thought it was really good apart from the minor bug in the end... as in we-couldn't-see-the-ending-cos-the-stupid-movie-was-bugged! Sooo, we will have to downlo... *cough* BUY this movie again to get to see the ending (although I'm 99% sure I know what will happen anyways).

Time to get some sleep.

Happy New Year everyone!
Love, Lina

Investment

Back home after some hunting downtown... Not hunting for wildlife or anything equally nasty, noooo, wesa want the GOOD stuff... THE APPLE STUFF!

MacBook Air 11", a new addition to the Freij Family, and already a highly valued member and contributor to our happiness and awesomeness! ;-) The 13" MacBook Pro is now living with my brother instead, and I can finally pick up the blogging again - haven't been able to blog at all on the iPad! Welcome back to me! :-D

And finally, last but definitely not least; our darlings Diesel & Morris!

Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone, hope you are all well and that you've had a wonderful Christmas with yummy food, love and relaxing! Daniel and I celebrated a mini Christmas with my mum, little brother and his family on December 18, and then went to Arboga on December 23 to spend Christmas Eve with Daniels parents. Our day was calm and relaxing with good food, some Skyping with the Skantz family in the USA and the must-have one hour show (Donald Duck and his friends) on TV at 3 PM. My Christmas didn't start off too well though as I had trouble falling to sleep the night before as I was so sad, and then sat crying until lunch due to missing dad so much. Really had thought I felt a little better (I try rrrreally hard not to think about how he's gone) but that was an EPIC FAIL on this day.

Caught this picture at work on December 22, will have to check if it's still there when I get back on January 3... It's been below - 6 degrees Celcius for weeks now and doesn't look like it's getting warmer any time soon, which is a big LIKE for me - I love the snow!

It was so funny when we let the cats out on the balcony earlier; Diesel the Diva put his nose out and then turned and went back inside (no surprise here...). ADHD-Morris took one long step into the snow, sat down with the tail around his feet and just GREW - his fur got thicker in an instant and he turned his ears back so he wouldn't get snow in them - we were amazed hahaha!

This is another thing I "encountered" at work on December 22... Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha, unfortunately not available in stores here in Sweden so we have asked Daniels sister Mikaela in the USA to see if she can get a bottle that Daniels parents can bring back to us. Lena and Tord (Daniels parents) are currently in the air between Copenhagen and Chicago on their way to Pittsburgh for a two week stay at the Skantz residence in Wexford. Still a little nervous regarding their trip, they were supposed to leave for Pittsburgh yesterday morning but their flight got canceled due to a snow storm in NY so they had to go back home and wait for SAS to call them about replacement flights. They were told by a very nasty woman at the airport to just go home and call the airline - is that a way to treat customers?! - and that the first available flight would be on December 31... LUCKILY they got a flight today, just one day late, and should arrive tonight at midnight!

Daniel and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on December 17! Can't believe it has been one year since we were in New York getting married, and talking to mum and dad on the phone, feels both shorter and longer since. We went to work as usual on this day and then went out for dinner at our all time favourite restaurant - Texas Longhorn at Hornstull Apparently we are brilliant because there was a "rockstar" there at the same time - Dregen. Dregen is a founding member and guitarist of Backyard Babies, he is also a co founding member of Hellacopters! Are we rockstars or what! :-D After this HUGE event we went to the cinema at Sickla to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and then back home!

Have a good evening everyone! ./MWAH!

Whole lot of fun...

Today has been the longest Wednesday of my life - I'm not joking!

Woke up, tired.
Got ready and went to work, tired.
Worked, tired and yawning.
Began surfing on my mobile to stay awake and not die from boredom, also tired.
Went shopping for food on the way home and could've easily fallen asleep on the subway.
Went straight to the sofa when I got home.
Made pancakes while yawning.
Fell asleep in the sofa.
Brushed my teeth and went to bed with the computer.

Geee, I'm a whole lot of fun :p

On another note, here's some inspiration for the redecorating heroes out there!

Brothers In Arms

Already Thursday gone, can you believe it? Lately I've been feeling the days has just been swooshing past me, and yet I've gotten so much done at work! Not so much at home though... am quite tired when finally off work... Feels so nice just to sit down (after taking care of dinner, dishes, laundry) and relax for a bit and unwind before going to bed.

Very happy we have gotten some snow - can't wait for more! Will have to go get me a new pair of winter shoes, noticed the other day that the shoes I have are leaking badly... Can't walk more than 20 metres without getting soaked. Daniel will need a new jacket, he's had his for ages now haha!

Right now my darling husband is gaming, Call of Duty: Black Ops

Looks really nice, awesome graphics and apparently a very capturing lore.

I've had my shower and am now sitting in bed. Got nothing major planned for tomorrow, but on Saturday we're off to the Goda Köket which is a food expo at Älvsjömässan. Parallell with this expo there is also the Health Expo and Boat Expo, so really something for everyone! Mum will be joining us, along with the best brother in the world who is taking his son and girlfriend. Will probably meet a lot of colleagues at this expo as there will be drinks served, and what better company to serve drinks than The Absolut Company? ;-)

Daniels mum and dad will be visiting on Sunday, we have nothing planned other than cuddling with the cats and having lunch at the Mongolian restaurant at Sveavägen. Awesome food!

Please find one of the greatest hits ever below, as a good night to you all! :-)

Our family has grown..!

After six long weeks of waiting and longing, we could FINALLY take our lovely boys home! They have both adapted well and are now enjoying the company of both us and eachother (which is less fun in the middle of the night).

Diesel was born in Östervåla, a lovely family taking care of and raising him!

Morris was born in Arboga, the city where (like Rome) all roads meet ;-)

With love!

Melvin 5 years!

Happy Birthday, Melvin! We hope you will enjoy this dinosaur cake (it sure looks real, doesn't it?) and that you will have a great day today :-)

Hugs to you, Alfred, your mum and dad!

Not an ordinary Wednesday

Muh, woke up to an (what I thought, haHA!) ordinary Wednesday; washed, put on mascara, got dressed, brushed my teeth, made a sandwich for breakfast at work, all the while I was chatting to Dan. We were ready to go, put on our jackets (yes, you still need them; where did summer go?), opened the door and stepped outside. Then one of our neighbors met us just outside the door...

Well, I'm not sure in which building he lives but I've seen him several times and he's also the one asking us to remove all the snow from the tires before driving into the garage as our SPLENDID garage lacks draining (which is a completely different story - remind me later!). Anywho, he says hello and then asks us if we have spot 71 in the garage. This question alarms us both (naturally) as we both adore our little Baby Beemer - could hardly hear what he said next due to all the alarm clocks making noise.

- Someone has broken into your car, there is glass from the windows all over and your stuff is scattered...

WTF? Noooo, this can't be happening! So we (very politely) say thank you for telling us and rush downstairs and my heart is beating like it's trying to shoot out of my body and there it is - our poor little baby beemer with shattered windows, scratched paint, glass all over the seats and floor, cds scattered inside and footprints in the seats! Our super advanced Panasonic GPS is long gone, along with the servicing receipts and instruction manual - everything, even our sunglasses! All we can do now is go upstairs, change clothes (I sent an email to my manager to let her know I wouldn't be coming today) and g e t t o w o r k.

After getting the car relatively clean from broken glass we went up to change clothes again. Then we went downstairs; Daniel to the garage to drive the car out, me to ground level to meet Mimmi who kindly enough offered to drive us. Before I even get out of the building I notice the three police officers standing by the door... For some reason you always think you've done something wrong when you see a cop! No, I did not turn and run :p

- Are you the one calling this morning about the car and the garage?
- Oh! Yes, that's us! Hm, had no idea they'd send someone out here? We're on the way to Carglass to fix the windows (I'm SURE they're here due to me speeding or stealing a pen from work or SOMETHING equally horrible).
- Well, ahem, you know, Wednesday mornings aren't the busiest of days... (sheepish look)

Right.

They joined me to the garage where we met Daniel, they asked us a couple of questions about the break in and asked to see the door to the garage and also if they had left any tools. Tools I had scraped up from the floor along with broken glass and dust and stones and put in a plastic bag... They took this plastic bag with them, after eyeing our quad and chatting a little.

Off we went; handed the car in for fixing the windows, picked up the BMW 540 that's been parked at our old apartment, Mimmi went to her place, Dan and I stopped by to clean the 540, went to the BMW office/servicing garage to order new instruction manuals etc, then went home.

Busy day. Busy day indeed. At the moment I have both a computer and a Daniel-head in my lap, things like this really deplete your energy! Good thing we keep our good spirit :-)

This is what it looked like, only posting two pictures since they're so depressing...

UPDATE! The doorbell just rang and when I opened it I found a little girl, a little boy and their mom, and at first I thought OMG how am I supposed to say no to these kids if they want to sell me something and THEIR MOM IS STANDING RIGHT BESIDE THEM but then when the little girl started talking I grew all warm cos you know what she said?

- I was walking home from school and when I walked by the forest I spotted this one, she says, and holds up THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL! Wonderful, cute little kid, I could kiss you!

Haha, there IS good in this world :-D Now just to keep an eye out for tomorrows newspaper where we can read about two youngsters being eaten by their own butts (that very surprisingly had grown teeth overnight!) when trying to sell two good looking sunglasses and a super advanced Panasonic GPS...

I hope you are all doing well!

Alfred 7 years!

Finally found a cake that I'm positive you would like, Alfred! We hope you had a great birthday with mum, dad and Melvin yesterday; it looked like you were having a good time at Fun For All in Cranberry! It was very nice talking to you on Skype and soon we will get to meet you all again so we can hug away! :-D

Daniel and I got back from Arboga to Stockholm around 3.30PM today, had a super quick shower, ordered sushi for take out, picked it up and oooon we went for mums house! My brother picked up pizza for himself, Daniel and Stephanie, and mum and I had sushi - super! After dinner and a coffee, Daniel and I went home to get the washing machine going, then went our for a long nice walk. Weather has been lovely today so just couldn't stay inside with a good conscience! Went to where Mimmi and Stefan will move in 1.5 years. Will be great, just wish they could move in NOW! I know Mimmi feels the same; 1.5 years is a long time ;-)

Right, best get ready for bed to spend some time with my new buddy...

Yes, it hurts.

Good night!

Furniture

Arrived safely to Arboga after a couple of hours in Västerås looking at veteran cars (and younger versions) at a local market. Finally bought some furniture for the balcony - just in time as I'm SURE summer will be here shortly! Must admit I'm a little tired with the chilly days and evenings now, would be nice to have dinner on the balcony, or just do some surfing or blogging ;-) Soo, four chairs, now to find a table! Quite like this one...

Although I'd like it to be all black like this one... This would of course mean an additional cost.

Off home to my mums tomorrow afternoon/evening meeting her and my brother with his family. Fredrik told me yesterday that Caiden has my smile - he will be a lovable kid I'm sure! Weird though, but I hear these wonderful traits sometimes skip a generation ;-)

I hope you all had a great Walpurgis! Daniel and I had guests; Mimmi and Stefan came over for dinner and a movie (Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs). Poor Stefan had his tonsills removed Tuesday so he had kiwi, bananas and a protein shake for dinner as he still can't eat proper food. The rest of us had BBQ which was nice! And Brie Cheese of course... :-D

Mum got back home from our summer house this afternoon, driving on her own which is great work! She has spent a week there as they've been renovating the pipes in her bathroom, and then spent the Walpurgis evening with my cousin Jenny (she's 6 months younger than me) and her family.

Talk to you later!
Love, Lina

Planet 51

Hi all,

Seen a great movie this weekend I wanted to tell you about - PLANET 51. Super movie, just my sense of humour!

American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders...like Chuck!

Can most definitely recommend it, can't remember laughing as much to a film since I saw Dum & Dumber or the Pixar shortfilm with the rabbit and the magician haha! I've enclosed one of the better parts of the film, were Rover, Chucks "mechanical companion" (calling it a dog would be an insult...) finds a stone that he wants to keep...

Enjoy!

He (name not yet final) was born on March 31 2010, 3470 grams and 51 centimeter.
Welcome to the world, little one!

More pictures to come :)

Vila i frid för all tid

♥♥♥

Still alive

January, and the beginning of a new year! We've been back in Sweden for 2 weeks now and have had lots to do! Went back to work yesterday and feels like I've never been away ;-)

Now that we have broadband in our new place I'll do my best to upload some photographs to show you all what we have been upto!

With love, L.
