The 5 minute method

No. I will never try the 5 minute method again. First night, and last night.

It broke my heart to hear him that sad, so I sat crying in the kitchen while Dan put him to bed. Finally, when Dan held him for comfort, he fell asleep in his arms. Our sweet little Elliot, what a cruel thing! It certainly doesn't work for everyone, that's for sure.

The reason we tried this is due to having been awake for hours every night these past two weeks, and being sleep deprived these past 16 months.

There is no way to help him fall asleep but to carry him around and rock him, or to put him in the pram and rock him. Approximately 30 minutes - 2 hours work EVERY time it's time to sleep.

We need a change; for him to be able to soothe himself and fall asleep (and go back to sleep) and for us to be able to be the great parents we want to be. This is quite hard when you're sleep deprived ;-)

What are your thoughts on this?

Love ❤
Lina

The 5 minute method didn't work for Evie either but she will go to bed with a bottle and fall asleep quite well. We're more stuck with her waking up to four times a night for a bottle, I don't think she's actually hungry but giving her one is the only way she goes back to sleep. Ugh so hard! I don't really know what your current evening routine is for Elliot so I'm not sure what to suggest at this time. For Evie, it's dinner, bath, change into Pj's (some quiet time if we're lucky haha) and then put her to bed. Also you guys have a possible 'habit' to break with the darling now, he's had all this time with the way things are and they have a way to trying to keep things the way that they like them! xx

Have a check through some books on Amazon also, I bought one for Evie on my Kindle http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Cry-Sleep-Solution-Foreword-ebook/dp/B000OVLITC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377594974&sr=8-1&keywords=Help+getting+baby+to+sleep but you might need something more aimed at toddler -ish age now - not sure...read the reviews and always make sure it suits your parenting style as most are American and sometimes don't translate over to well. :D
